Elements Fest 2015 :: Practical Information

UCL Research Department of Linguistics
Elements Fest 2015

Optional Registration

Although Elements Fest is free and open to all without any need to register, it would help us with planning if you could let us know of your intention to attend. We're also looking to organise at least one (informal) dinner with interested participants. If you would like to attend these it's important that we know in advance for purposes of booking.

You can find the (strictly optional) registration form here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-HtQnYYPvyGFN1S0LBO65AznHBGcIJanIRdthPEGNIs&authuser=0

If you require a letter for your institution confirming that you have attended and/or presented at the Elements Fest, please let us know in advance by emailing us.

Venue

Day 1 (Monday 30th of March) will be held in B11 Seminar Room 4, Bentham House, 4-8 Endsleigh Gardens, London WC1H 0EG. Please note that the entrance is at the corner of the building. There will be a registration desk at Bentham House in the morning to give you a final programme and guide you to the appropriate room. The nearest tube stations to Bentham House are Euston, King's Cross St Pancras and Euston Square.

Day 2 (Tuesday 31st of March) will be held in Room G10, Chandler House, 2 Wakefield Street, London WC1N 1PF. There will be signs to guide you to Room G10 upon entering the building, but the room is easy to find in any case. The nearest tube stations to Chandler House are Russell Square and King's Cross St Pancras; but both Euston and Euston Square are also within 15 minutes walking time.

Dinner

We are planning to go out for an informal dinner on either Monday or (more probably) Tuesday evening after the last talk. If you want to come it would be really helpful if you could fill in the optional registration form so we can get an idea of numbers, although there will be some flexibility as we won't pre-book a venue but will go for a walk-in. Exact details will be confirmed early on Monday.

We will also very definitely go out for drinks on both nights, although the venues have not yet been decided. We will announce this on the day and also try and post a link here before the last talk is over, so you can come and join us even if you've missed part or all of the day's talks.

Accommodation

One of the cheapest and closest options is the Generator Hostel, which is literally a stone's throw away from Chandler House and less than 5mins walk from Bentham House. They also still had availability for both nights when we checked on the 25th March.

If you prefer not to stay in a hostel, there is a plethora of small B&Bs and Hotels around the area to suit most desired levels of comfort. We recommend to use one of the popular room booking sites such as Booking.com. If you want to stay within walking distance from the conference venue then you should look for a place in the "Bloomsbury" area. However, we have really excellent transport connections on the Underground, which runs till late, so there is no reason to forego a better deal a short ride away, and it's worth looking around.
